Description: I am writing this letter of personal recommendation in support of Trina Middleton as a most deserving local WOW HERO! I know how gifted Trina is in connecting with students with developmental disabilities because I have seen her both from a personal experience with my son Nick as well as through my involvement with her as her boss at Jacksonville School for Autism. Trina is simply a gifted individual with children and it takes a special person to connect with children with developmental disabilities. My son, Nick, responds to Trina because he knows that she believes in his intelligence and respects him as an individual. She has not only touched my life and my precious child’s life, but so many other families and children who have been blessed by her consistent love and commitment for the past 25 years. Trina is one of those people that simply makes everything better with her strength and fortitude to make her students believe in themselves. Trina has lived a life of service that shows her compassion, courage and honor to serve others through her professional life as a special need’s teacher and of course, her unwavering commitment to her children Erika and Tommy. While Trina has given their time and talents to help support young athletes through their commitment to community soccer, she has also volunteered in every way to support the autism community. She has many attributes that make her a worthy local WOW HERO but it is her ultimate sacrifice she has made for their own children and the love for their nieces and nephews that I have seen firsthand. Over the past 5 years, I have seen Trina try to help her brother and sister-in-law with financial and emotional support. Each time it ended in heart-break for them as they watched their family make bad decisions that impacted the lives of their nieces and nephew. They have tried to help in every way and have made the ultimate sacrifice and commitment to raise these children as their own. Trina recently went from a mother of 2 grown children to a mother of 5 with the adoption of her precious nieces & nephew. She is now raising a 5 yr old, 3 yr old and a 2 yr old. Her life has been forever changed and she has done it all with such grace. She continued to maintain her leadership position at JSA as Education Director in charge of 50 staff and 50 students while taking care of these young children who have needed the stability that Trina could offer. When Trina gives her word.. it is done! Dedicated. Engaged. Invested.... three words to describe Trina. For all these reasons and more Trina deserves to be recognized as the Beaver Chevrolet WOW Hero!!
